See The Light

Do your children enjoy art? Mine sure do! We were so excited to get to try out the first DVD in the Art Class series from See The Light. The series consists of  9 DVD's, each with 4 lessons. That's 36 lessons in all. There are 2 ways to use this great program. You can buy all 9 DVD's at once for $99.99, or you can subscribe and watch online and get 4 new lessons each month for $10.00 per month. You will still have access to the previous month's lessons with this plan.

What did the kids think?

My little art lovers wanted to start their lessons the minute I opened the package. I've never seen kids finish their math so fast in my life! I told them they had to finish the days work before we could watch it, I'm such a mean mommy!

Each lesson is about 15 minutes long, and then they get to practice what they learn. This was just right for my squirmy kids who don't stay still for very long. My 7 year old son, who is very artistic, said he wished the lessons were longer. He took more time with his practice than the girls did.

 

What did I think?

I liked the way they integrated the bible into the lessons. I liked the way the artist spoke to the kids, it was like she was right there with them, talking to them, and not to a camera.

I like that there are no workbooks to purchase, and most of the supplies needed for the lessons we already had on hand. Most lessons require just paper, pencil, and a good eraser.

The only thing I didn't like is that you have to buy all of the DVD's at once, and that is hard to work into our budget. They used to offer them for purchase individually, and we probably would have continued with the series if they still did. I hope they will reconsider this option again in the future. Watching the lessons online is not an option for us because we do not have unlimited download through our satellite service.
