Nature Walk ~ June

Last night we took a relaxing nature walk while our dough was rising in the kitchen, here are some pictures of interesting things we found.



An animal has dug out a little den underneath this tree. The kids keep going back to see if they can see something going in there so they know what animal it is.



We haven't figured out what plant this is yet, please comment if you know! Its so pretty though :0)



Skye loved all the Tiger Lillies along the way.....



She found the tallest flower of the day!



Star loves all flowers. She dissected quite a few on her stroller tray so we could identify the parts.



A ladybug on a stick held their attention for a long time :0)

Pinewood Derby 2011

He had such a wonderful time at the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby! This was his first year to enter, and we learned a lot about making cars in the process. Next year we will have better ideas for making his car fast, and cool!

He drew his design on paper and daddy helped him cut out his car with a coping saw. Then he sanded for days, really! Finally he got to do the best part, painting! He is an artist for sure, he painted a dragon on his car and named it Dragonfire.

There were over 40 cars entered this year, the whole event took 2 and 1/2 hours. Those boys had a wonderful time! There were over 200 people crammed in that room. All the kids got to sit on the floor by the race track and cheer as they cars sped by, it was a lot of fun for everyone!

I forgot my camera the night of the race (still kicking myself for it too!) but I got a picture of him with his car and patch after the race at home, and then the next day at his sister's race I got the picture of him by the track.

We are really looking forward to next years race!

Powderpuff Derby 2011

This was our first year to enter the Powderpuff Derby race through Girl Scouts.  She had a lot of fun! Each girl designed and decorated their own car using a Boy Scout Pinewood Derby kit. She drew her design, and daddy helped her cut it out with a coping saw. Next she sanded and sanded and sanded. Then she sanded more! Finally she got to paint her car all by herself. She was very proud! We added weight to the car to help it go down the track. The one on the end with the penny on top is hers.

Thanksgiving Turkey Craft

We really should make crafts more often, everyone really enjoyed themselves. We hung them on our front door afterward for all of our visitors to see!
